Illustrating

Illustrating is when the song lyrics match what is happening in the music video for example in the music video below called ' watch me whip/nae nae' by Silento, this is an illustrating music video because at the 0.33 second we see the artist say 'nae, nae' then we see the artist demonstrating it, this is because the artist want the audience to understand the lyrics. Another example in the music video where the artist is illustrating the lyrics would be when he say 'Stanky legs' at 0.56 sec then actually does it, this helps the audience know what he is talking about also makes the audience do it as well with the artist as they find it entertaining.

Amplifying

Amplifying is when the video is designed to enhance the lyrics and mood of the song. An example of this is a song called 'Happy' by 'Pharrel Williams', in the video at 0.31 we see random people dancing which creates a lively mood and throughout the song all the actors are dancing and this also match the mood rather than the lyrics of the song because the artist keeps saying ' Happy' and by dancing they create happy mood, also we also see the artist smiling at 0.49 sec, this also tells us that the artist is amplifying a happy mood so he wants the audience to be happy.

Contradicting

Contradicting is when the video deliberately goes against music convention, an example will be this song by 'Lil Dickey' called '  Save dat money'  because in the music at 0.55 sec we see the artist go to rich people asking them if he could record a music video in their house this makes the video very unique as they show extra features that are  not in music video's. i think that artist choose to do this is because it extend the play ability of the song this means that more people as it is very interesting because in the video we learn that most artist rent the location where they shoot their music video and it also very different as it shows us the making of the video compared to other music video for example we see the artist getting ready at 1.27 min we see the artist go in and introduce their self to the house owner.

Iconography And Genre Convention

Iconography and genre convention is when they use certain images that associate with a specific genre. An example of this would be the music video below called ' Trap Queen' by 'Fetty Wap'.  In this video at 0.15 sec we a lot of money, at 0.18 we see a car and at 1.15 min we see a female dancing, we associate all of these the hip hop genre, therefore just by watching this video we know that the song is from the hip hop genre.

Star Person and Close ups

Star persona and close ups is when the artist is the main focus of the video this would increase popularity of the artist. In this music video called 'Rap God'  by 'Eminem'
it has many camera shots which focus on  the artist for example at 0.03 sec the camera is focusing on the artist, this makes the artist more known as they feature more in the music video, also by having star persona in the video it builds a relationship between the artist and audience, also the close up tell the audience who to focus on and who is the center of attention

Voyeurism

Voyeurism is used in this video below which is called 'Heatwave' by 'Wiley', Voyeurism is when the music visually shows us an treatment of a female body which entertains some people and it also does not make people feel guilty for watching the female as they know other people have seen it, so your not the only person who's watch this, an example of voyeurism in the music video would be at 0.38 as we see female bodies half naked this tells us voyeurism has been used and it mostly attracts the male audience because they would be interested in females

Intertextuality

Intertextuality is when one media refers to another media, this help both media company be more known, an example of this is below the music video is called 'Never say never' by Justin Bieber and Jaden Smith'. In this music video we see intertexuality because we see that the song has been made for the film called ' Karate Kid' and we know this as at 0.59 sec we see arcade footage from their film this helps both media industries because the artist may be known this will make their fans watch the film, this is a very good way to be more known as you may be working with famous people who can help you expand in the media industry.
